And Daimler AG made a new smart car, electric smart car. The electric smart car using a battery to moves. Up star California electric car company Tesla Motors may be persevering with layoffs and management changes as it struggles to get its own electic saloon car off the ground. The Silicon valley electric car company will produce lithium-ion battery packs and chargers for the all electric version of Daimler AG's Smart Car. Tesla's powertrain business is currently the only part of the company that is cash-flow positive-it builds and sells powertrain elements suach as battery packs to other companies.
Acording to reports the two companies have been collaborating for more than a year but finaly version Tesla's Smart car battery pack remains under development. Tesla Motors was chosen to supply batteries and chargers to the new electric Smart car by Daimler AG which is scheduled to come out on the next half of 2010 with a limited edition and will have regular production in 2012. These smart car could be possibly seen at the North American International Auto Show along with Big names developing same products like Toyota and Ford.
Meanwhile, Tesla is still struggling to make its Roadster profitable - according to reports it has delivered around 150 of the vehicles and has a waiting list through to November.
